In my opinion, It is better to have a website than a blog, because blogs are just sorted out by dates.
Well it depends what you are selling... if it just is a couple of ebooks I guess it is fine.
I have a website (not a blog) which sells ebook with resell rights and I think it's pretty profitable! You can visit my site by clicking on my name.
The advantage of a blog is that you can get started for free, while a web site costs money.
If you're just starting out, you may want to test things out first.
Blogs with quality content tend to get a higher listing in Google, certainly Blogger blogs, as Google has bought the service..
